Residential spaces come in many shapes and sizes – from large customized houses to small and challenging apartments. This Loft in Bratislava is somewhere in between – it measures 108 square meters of interior space and 151 square meters of terrace area. Designed by Prague-based by Atelier SAD, the loft is perched on the 12th floor of a 1998 multi-functional building in Slovakia’s capital. The designers had the challenging task of reconstructing the apartment in such a way that both the terrace and the interior spaces could be used to their full potential.

Luxurious living – something that we can’t afford but damn it we dream of it – it’s what this modern, three-storey house in Manhattan Beach, California, is all about. With a stunning view over the Palos Verdes Peninsula in Malibu, the house manages to pack a small but luxurious backyard in the tight space, a lush living space with large floor-to-ceiling windows, numerous skylights,  an amazing pool and an elevator – that’s a pretty high building out there.. This house with an unusual architecture is situated in a suburb of Sydney. It has a simple L-shaped plan incarnated by Durbach Block Jaggers Architects. But at the same time, it is full of interesting architectural ideas. Due to the shape of the home, the impression is received as though the house embraces incredibly beautiful garden located in internal court. The most of the windows are oriented to the northern sun and the garden. The facade of the house tilts and lifts in some parts of it, providing light to the ground floor. The house was a winner of Horbury Hunt in Residential Category in 2010 and in 2011 NSW AIA Architecture Award.
